Getting rid of your temporary Internet Files
"get rid of files that build up on your system"
Using temporary Internet files is important because it speeds up browsing. Web pages are stored onto your local hard drive so that they don't need to be downloaded every time. The only drawback to storing these pages is that potential hackers could see where you have been browsing, and it just builds up a lot of files over time. That's why it's a good idea to occasionally clear out these files.
To clear your temporary Internet files:
- In IE, click TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS
- Select the "General" tab
- Click -Delete Files-
When prompted, make sure to check the "Delete all offline content" option, then click -OK-
You may want to clear your temporary Internet files every time you close IE:
In IE, click TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS
Select the "Advanced" tab
Under the "Settings" list, scroll to the very bottom of the list
Under the "Security" item, check the "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed".
