eMail and Chat do's and dont's
Netiquette (Net Etiquette)
The internet seems to have developed it's own language, or dialect. It's well known by frequent users, but to someone just trying out a chat room or many times simply decoding your e-mail, it can be daunting.
Here are some basic codes... and YES they're always changing.
- AFAIK=As Far as I know.
- BRB=Be Right Back.....(very common in chat rooms)
- BTW=By the Way...
- FAQ=Frequently Asked Questions....(very common)
- HTM=Hope this helps!
- IMHO=In my Humble Opinion...
- LOL=Laughing out Loud.... (this ones very common)
- LTNS=Long time no see.
- OTOH=On the other hand...
The following are "currently" some of the most commonly used keyboard symbols in email and chat rooms.
| :-) | ;-) | :-} | :-( | :'-( | >:-( | >:-/ | :-* | :-() | :-@ | :-| |
| A Smile | A Wink | A Grin | -Sad- | Crying | Mad! | Frustrated | A Kiss | Yakity | Screaming | Whatever! |
| :-/ | :-c | :-D | :-0 | (()) | :-p | :-# | :^) | >:^, | :-& |
| Skeptical | Bummed! | Laughing | Suprised | A Hug | nya,nya | ShutUp | A Smile | Devilish | TongueTied |
MORE TIPS.....
Never type in ALL CAPS unless you are trying to Scream your point across!
Typing in all capital letters is considered RUDE in net lingo!... and people will actually get annoyed at this.Don't give out your address, phone number, personal information, etc.
