Disabling floating ads
"get rid of ads along the edges of your browser"
Floating ads are multimedia presentations that hover over the text of a particular web page. These annoying ads may include background music or sounds, or just text & images. Many of these ads use Macromedia's Flash presentation plugin. Fortunately, Internet Explorer makes it easy to prevent these presentations from running.
To prevent floating ads, turn off Activex plugins using the following steps:
- In IE, click TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS
- Select the "Security" tab
- Click on the "Internet" icon and press
- Set "Download signed Activex controls" and "Download unsigned Activex controls" to "PROMPT"
- Set "Run Activex controls and plugins" to "PROMPT" or "DISABLE", depending on your preference.
