How you can avoid getting a VIRUS on your computer
YES, you can help avoid getting a Virus,
OR, you can be the cause that you got one!
Nearly all Virus programs infect computers by attaching to email and then copying themselves to your hard drive from the email.
How can you avoid this? In most cases, It's as easy as; - Do NOT open email attachments!
- FamilyWay filters all email to search for any Virus attachments, and we will attempt to destroy any Virus before it reaches you. But we can not guarantee every Virus is caught! You can help matters by NOT opening anything attached to an email unless you are fairly sure what it is AND you have scanned the email with an AntiVirus program!
- If you think you need to open an email attachment, YOU MUST scan the email with your up-to-date Anti-Virus program before you open it!
- It is also possible to automatically delete any email that has an attachment with Microsoft Outlook Express.
How do you Scan an email before you open it? Some email programs will allow you to "scan email" manually. Do not think that because you have your AntiVirus program set to automatically scan email, that it will catch everything.... it is always best to manually scan.
How to Automatically DELETE all email with attachments
Open Outlook Express and click on Tools option at the top of the screen. From that menu you will see a choice called "Message Rules". Choose Message Rules and then Mail.
From the Message Rules box, choose NEW and pick your options for files with an attachment. You can choose to "move it to the Deleted Items folder" or just "Delete it from the server." When you're done, click (OK).
It is important to note that if your family sends you a photo attached to an email, it would automatically get deleted before you saw it.
